Knit Along

Learn colorwork knitting and basic sock construction as we knit together the Falling Snow Christmas Stocking. Please bring supplies to the first class.

Prerequisites:  Must know how to cast on, knit and purl.

Supplies needed:

– 150 yards of red bulky weight (#6) yarn
– 100 yards of white bulky weight (#6) yarn
– 16in circular needle in recommended size on the yarn label
– Stitch marker, waste yarn

Dates:  Mondays October 9, 16, November 6 and 13, 6pm – 8pm

October 9, Class 1 – Cast-on
– Review pattern
– Long tail 2 color cast-on
– Latvian Plait
– Reading charts

Assignment to be completed for next class 10/16
– Knit rows 1 and 2 of color chart

October 16, Class 2 –  Colorwork / Fair Isle
– How to hold two strands of yarn
– Color dominance / foreground and background colors
– Floats and trapping

Assignment to be completed for next class 11/6
– Knit all rows in chart

November 6, Class 3 – Heel
– Heel Flap
– Turn the heel
– Join for the gusset

Assignment to be completed for next class 11/13
– Knit the gusset, including repeating round 1 – 5 until 64 st and knit even and additional 1.5 inches

November 13, Class 4 – Toe
– Decrease for rounded toe
– Discuss different toe shapes and kitchner stitch
